Green Adelaide’s Cooler, Greener, Wilder Grants for round 3 are now open, offering metropolitan councils the opportunity to apply for a share in up to $1.5 million to deliver greening and cooling projects across Adelaide’s metropolitan environment.
In addition to the total budget there have been some significant changes to the grants program benefitting councils based on your feedback.
In a first for Cooler, Greener, Wilder Grants, projects that meet 2 out of the 3 Greening, Biodiversity and Water Sensitive Urban Design criteria will be considered however those that meet all 3 criteria will be given higher weighting.
Councils can now apply for up to $500,000 in funding per project and have up to 4 years to deliver the project. This provides time for planning, design, and plant propagation.
Recognising the cost of establishing new vegetation, a year of plant establishment including watering and weed management can now be included as part of the council in-kind contribution towards the grant project.
It is anticipated that successful applicants will be notified late December/early January 2025. Councils will have until June 30 2025 to accept a grant agreement allowing time to secure internal finances for the 2025/26 financial year to help deliver biodiversity and climate resilient outcomes in council projects.
For further information, including Application Guidelines and FAQs, as well as the online Application Portal, visit the Green Adelaide website. There is also a list of successful projects funded in round 1 for some inspiration – including council streetscape upgrades integrating greening, biodiversity-sensitive urban design and water-sensitive urban design.
There will be an online briefing session on Thursday 7th November at 11am to go through the details of the grants program, you can register for it HERE.
Applications are open until midnight Sunday 1 December 2024, so get together with colleagues from across council and collaborate on a multi objective project. To discuss further, please contact Green Adelaide on (08) 7424 5760 or email.
